Converting the novel “Divergent” into a cinematic adaptation

Reason of selection:

 I noticed the changes that happened to Triss in the novel (the main character in the novel) and the switch that happened to her and these characteristics highlight my own point of view “Time will prove your goodness one day” “Everyone can do something” so I decided to take it and to highlight the importance of humanity and without it the world will be destroyed.

 On my personal experience, I’m a shy person but this can’t define my aims and my goals so this is the point that makes me feel that I’m attracted to the novel. So everyone can do something.

 It represents a big problem “inhumanity” that we should take care of it.

1. Dauntless Faction (Brave)

I chose Cheetah’s eye to represent characteristics of Dauntless faction

Characteristics of dauntless faction:

 Fearless
 Strong
 Brave
 Willing
 Determined

Characteristics of cheetah:

 The fastest animal on earth

 He is a ferocious animal

 Fearless

 Love climbing peaks and heights

 Cheetah is so brave

 This animal is one the strongest animal

Cheetah’s eye looks like fire.

Fire represents:
 Energy, power, passion, action, creativity, authority

2. Abnegation Faction (SELFLESS):

I chose Llama’s eye to represent characteristics of Abnegation faction

Characteristics of abnegation faction:

 Value the virtue of selflessness.

 Reject a life of vanity and self-indulgence.

 Protecting themselves from greed and envy.

 Forbidden of using the mirror for long periods of time and buying luxurious items.

 Serving others instead of themselves.

 Very quiet as they don’t like to call attention to themselves and they find joy in helping others.

Characteristics of llama:

 The Llama is a very intelligent animal.

 They can learn many skills.

 Llamas are very sociable animals.

 They are a very gentle.

 Llamas are calm in nature and have common sense, which make them easy for anyone, even children to handle.

Llama’s eye shows curved lines so it creates:

 Calmness  Softness  Familiarity  Comfort  Safety

3. Erudite (INTELLEGENT):

I chose Blue Crayfish’s eye to represent characteristics of Erudite faction

Characteristics of erudite faction:

 Places the highest value not only on intelligence but also on knowledge, understanding and innovation.

 Putting their knowledge to use, in order to develop and discover newer and more advanced sources of information.

 Knowledgeable people who love to learn.

Characteristics of blue crayfish:

 They are usually not aggressive animals, unless they are bothered or intimidated.

 They have the power of concentration.

It looks like the technology.

 Always lead to unexpected results.

 It’s very advanced camera.

 It moves in a quite motion so it doesn’t attract the attention.

 It has a big memory.

4. Amity (KIND):

I chose Green Human Eyes to represent characteristics of Amity faction

Characteristics of Amity faction:

 They're all about kindness and harmony

 Always happy.

 Members of Amity are dedicated to peacefulness, kindness, forgiveness, trust, self-sufficiency, and neutrality.

 Amity was formed by those who blamed war and fighting for human nature's faults.

Characteristics of green eyes:

 Represents peace and nature.

 Everybody is kind but in a different way.

It looks like sunflower:

Sunflowers symbolize:

 Adoration, loyalty., longevity, bright, hope, flexibility and cheery.

 Warm like the sweet summer sun.

 Known for being “happy” flowers.

5. Candor (HONEST):

I chose Gorilla’s Eye to represent characteristics of Candor faction

Characteristics of candor faction:

 Value honesty and order

 They tell the truth, even when you wish they wouldn't

 Wisdom

Wrinkles indicate:

 Wisdom  Time lines

Brown color reflects:

 Stability  Dependability  Honesty

 Home  Healing  Warmth

Characteristics of Gorilla:

 The most powerful animals not only for their size and force but also for their gentle behavior like human

 It reflects a quiet honor

 Loyal

 Wisdom

 Coherent to her land

 Leadership

 This ape manages other members within the troop with temperance, understanding and balance

 Stay grounded and handle their responsibilities

 Cleverness

 Respect

 Strength

Characters

Tris has the same characteristics of Husky:

 Friendly  Have a striking appearance

 Independent  Good with strangers.

I chose eye of the Siberian husky to represent the divergence of tris because his eye color has 2 different colors and it’s not a normal thing.

Horse symbolism is letting you know that you have the power to change anything and everything you choose in your life.

Four has the same characteristics of the horse:

 Brave.

 Claustrophobia (Fear of having no escape or being closed in).

 Generous.

 Independent.

 Fast.

 Defensive.

Blue represents depth and stability. It symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven.
Blue is considered beneficial to the mind and body. So it has a calming effect.
Brown symbolizes Stability, Dependability, Honesty, Home, Healing and Warmth.

Horses have a very long and thick lashes that protect them from anything can hurt their eyes.

So the structure of horse’s eye describes the characteristics of the main character (Four).
